The Revolutionary War
WebQuest
2nd Grade-United States History

Introduction
A good day to you, student! How do you do? It is the year 1764 and you and your friends, fellow American Colonists, are furious at King George III and the rest of Britain. As an outsider, I am curious to find out why everyone is so furious. What is going on here?
Task
With this WebQuest, you are to explore the different websites to explain to an outsider, just exactly why the American colonists are so furious at Britain. You will complete the attached handout, and will also write a one-page paper that summarizes all the information you have found.
Process
For this Quest, you will be put into 13 groups, about two people per group. Each pair or group will be part of a different colony. One member will be the explorer, searching the websites on this page to find the information. The other member will be the scribe, recording all of the found information. If you have more than two members, you may take turns being the explorer or the scribe.
- First, you will research your colony. Make sure you know the year founded, who it was founded by, and two fun facts about the colony. Write the information on your handout.
- Next, you will research two "Acts" passed by the British government. Please name the act, what the act said, and one reason why the colonists were angered by the act. Write the information on your handout.
- Next, research the Intolerable Acts. Describe two aspects of the acts on your handout.
- Finally, research two important events that happened that either angered the colonists, British, or both. Name the event, year the event happened, what happened during the event, and why the event is important in the proper bubbles on your handout.
Once your handout is complete, summarize your information by answering this question with a one paragraph summary-
Why are the colonists furious with the British? Is their frustration justified?
